Contrary to the predictions by a large section of the media, the Sajid Khan directed Akshay Kumar starrer, HOUSEFULL 2, has embarked upon a bumper start across the country, barring to an extent Tamil Nadu.
Interestingly instead of the IPL matches affecting the collections of HOUSEFULL 2 (as was apprehended), it was the other way round (except for Rajasthan) as HOUSEFULL 2 dented the viewership of the carnival cricket matches. And the collections which were a wee bit on the lower side during the morning shows, picked up substantially as the day progressed and IPL matches started.
In fact as per early estimate, the film may have netted in the range of around 16 crores on the opening day, surpassing the team’s previous two hits, HEYY BABYY and HOUSEFULL, by a long margin.
As things stand, the 70-72 crore HOUSEFULL 2, which has already recovered 25 crore of it’s all inclusive cost (through the satellite rights), will get into the profit zone before the week ends.
Last week’s Bhatt camp venture, BLOOD MONEY, has netted a satisfactory 9 crore (to be validated), during the first week, despite not having a top star or popular music. The film is already a profitable venture as a large chunk of the investment has already been recovered from its non-theatrical rights.
